Coldhurst Oldham

Here we are in Oldham, tracing the path of dense industrialisation, demolition, rebuilding and refurbishing.

Here in 1936, the area dominated by enormous mills, surrounded by terraced housing.

Postwar clearance leaves a blank canvas for the Municipal Modernist.

A network of culs de sac, open green spaces, and a variety of brick built low rise housing.

Seen here in 2008.

Here on Drake Close is a record of the estate’s refurbishment, cladding and colouring in the new render.

Fast forward to 5th September 2026 – a day which began overcast and wet, latterly blessed by bright sunlight.
